Who We Are
Under the direction of Dr. Margaret Tremwel, the Healthy Congregations Ministry was started January, 2005. Thiscampaign has helped over 42 congregations in the Fort Smith and surrounding communities to lead healthier lifestyles. In April of 2005, this ministry received an $18,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Health through the Centers for Disease Control to help congregations start health ministries. This grant has been used to purchase blood pressure cuffs, glucometers and health related educational materials for congregations to start a health ministry. Meetings and retreats are held on regular basis incorporating continuing education for the health ministry volunteers. These meetings provide opportunities for congregations to network their resources. Dr. Tremwel is also available to give informative health related talks to congregations.
